Protecting endangered species through coordinated conservation efforts

Team Size

52 rangers and staff

Duration

14 months

Kenya Wildlife Trust manages conservation programs across three national parks and several wildlife corridors. Their work includes anti-poaching patrols, community education, wildlife monitoring, and habitat restoration—all requiring tight coordination among rangers, researchers, and community liaisons.

The Challenge

Coordinating anti-poaching patrols, tracking wildlife populations, and managing community outreach programs across vast protected areas was complex. Rangers in the field had limited ability to report incidents in real-time, and researchers struggled to access patrol data for their conservation studies. Community programs were often not well-coordinated with field operations.

The Solution

KWT deployed Taskmate to create an integrated system for all conservation activities. They built workflows for patrol scheduling, incident reporting, wildlife sighting documentation, and community engagement. Mobile-friendly interfaces allowed rangers to update information from the field, even with limited connectivity.

Implementation

  • Created patrol zone management with scheduling workflows
  • Built incident reporting system for real-time alerts
  • Implemented wildlife sighting tracking and analysis
  • Established community education program coordination
  • Integrated GIS mapping for spatial tracking
